Verified Reviewer | Cape Town, Western CapeBought a RACHET from Bothasig Midas and was NOT informed that there is NO warranty
Good day, I just came back from Midas in Bothasig where I experienced the worst customer service in my life!
I purchased a ratchet dual tool for a printing machine we were decommissioning yesterday. My engineer turned it twice and it seemed to have stripped as it was not loosening the bolt.
I witnessed this myself.
I called Dominic to inform her, and she said not a problem, bring it in Sir and we will sort it out.
When I arrived at the store a few minutes ago, the guy behind the counter tried to see what was faulty and the more I tried to explain to him, you can't test it in your hand, you need to try and unfasten a nut to see. He then went to the back of the store and another guy came to talk to me. His first words to me were 'we do not give a warranty on ratchets'. I said the young guy that assisted me yesterday did not inform me of this. What irked me was this guy's arrogant smile when he told me that I must go to the website and I can read the terms. He then wanted to go onto his computer to read it to me !! I told him I'm not a child and he can keep the ratchet which I left with him !!!
Before I post my experience on the Bothasig Community Group, I would like your input on this.
I called Midas to ask what that rude guy's name is, and I'm told his name is Ross! Pictures attached for reference.
I look forward to your earliest reply.
Regards.

Verified Reviewer | Indianapolis, IndianaWorst service ever
On 8/27/24, I took my 2013 Chevy Sonic to be serviced for an oil leak and other repairs. I had to take my car to them for the same repairs eight times.
Because this is my only transportation, it has inconvenienced me tremendously. I had to pay for Lyft, and this last time I had to get a rental for seven days while they did the repairs. After all this time, my car is making a funny squeaking sound that was not there before the repairs.
I feel this is unprofessional and the work is subpar. I want accountability for my experience with Midas.

I made an appointment in person a week before. When I arrived (early) and checked in they said they would get me in.
Well, after 30 mins. they still hadn't taken my car in.
I noticed people walking in for oil change with No appointment getting waited on before me. Bottom line it took 2 hours for them to replace 2 brake pads, HELLO!
User's recommendation: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
I should be compensated for the time that I spent waiting because of their incompetence
I had to take my car into the same Midas 6 times for a fuel pump problem They finally fixed my car Hours of my time were wasted and. they put me.in a dangerous situation

Verified ReviewerNever Use the Atlantic Ave. in Jacksonville, FL Location
Don't get ripped off at the Atlantic Ave. in Jacksonville, FL location!D Ive used this Midas several times for oil changes and tire rotations as theyre convenient, but not especially quick with any work.
Every time Im there, they try to upsell me with hundreds to thousands of dollars in work that, when I have checked by an independent mechanic Ive used for more extensive repairs, Ive been told that Midas-recommended repairs are unnecessary. Today I brought in a vehicle due to a check engine light needing a diagnostic, something that is FREE at every major car parts store. Midas charges $189. When their diagnostic said the repair was an air filter ($49), and a fuel system treatment ($229), AND theyd lower the diagnostic fee to $99, I opted for just the air cleaner.
They then raised the diagnostic fee back to $189. NOT! A $15 air filter and a $7 top-rated fuel system cleaner does NOT rate a $278 repair! After making it clear that I dont patronize businesses that change prices like that, I finally paid $174 to them just to get out of this rip off shop.
Congratulations Midas.
That's the last penny you'll ever see from me, and youve earned this review now published throughout social media. I can only imagine how they try to rip off customers who don't know better.

Verified Reviewer | Toledo, OhioResolved: Midas is a scam
Took my car into Midas on Alexis and Lewis for AC repair after. The repair was completed, they told me that I should bring it back in a few days to check it out for leaks.
They also told me that if it leaked out they would charge me again $450 to recharge the system. The reason they do it the way they do is because they are too cheap to buy the right equipment to do the job. My guess is they are making lots of money and making their customers very unhappy. I checked with other AC people and was told that pressure testing the system and using an electronic leak tester is the proper way to diagnose an AC leak problem.
They either can't afford or are just trying to rip us off.
With a name like Midas you would think they would be honest, but they are not. BUYER BEWARE.
User's recommendation: don't use Midas for anything. If this how they repair an ac system imagine if you had a major problem

Verified Reviewer | Des Plaines, IllinoisScam me out of money and I wasn’t asked!
I went in for a scheduled appointment for a routine oil change on time! I ended up with a $278 bill and now realize that I was literally scammed.
I asked for my front headlight bulbs be changed and I brought them it with me as my son had brought them for me to use, I was told that the whole front bumper had to be taken off to replace my bulbs which wasnt true as they changed it before and had documentation, I watch the technician placed the bulb on the drivers side and the bumper wasnt taken off, he never changed the other side as the bulb is still in my car, he then replaced lug on my tire on the passenger side total of 3, and I wasnt ASKED TO REPLACE THEM, WHY? Before anything is done to your car and replaced the customer should be ASKED, I had 4 new tires replaced there at Midas, all my brakes done, multiple car fixtures at this Midas and spent more than a couple of thousand dollars, now I remember that every time I went there something was always found wrong. I will never know if things were actually wrong as when you trust the place youve given business too, things should actually be wrong, like I said I will never know, but after this past week experience and me out of 278 dollars for and oil change and headlights bulb replacement, this will be my last venture to Midas, I absolutely will not go back, CUSTOMERS BE AWARE WHEN YOU TRUST MIDAS ON OAKTON IN DES PLAINES.NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
HOW CAN THEY SLEEP AT NIGHT AFTER SCAMMING PEOPLE. ALL I KNOW IS THAT KARMA WILL EVENTUALLY GET THEM.
- No values
- Scam people always finding ways to charge customers
Preferred solution: Full refund

Complaint
Midas in Aurora CO on Iliff and Buckley the young lady at the counter was extremely rude. I took my car there for an oil change and to replace the passenger head light which they replaced less than 3 months ago.
When I told her that she insisted that I didn't bring the car there which was an lie.
Then she acknowledged that they replaced it and lied about the warranty. I have 3 cars and the midas card, because of her rudeness and dishonesty I will never use Midas again.

Verified Reviewer | Jacksonville, Florida***SSAM ALERT***Jacksonville Sunbeam I was scammed overcharged for an AC line replacement $688.13
****SCAM ALERT****Jacksonville Florida Sunbeam overcharged me $688.13 on 3/21/24 to replace an AC line, they told me they would fix the problem that caused the hole in the line.. Six 6 weeks later my AC quit working I brought it in early part of May.
They tried to charge me another $338 to fix it again. Then they couldn't find the part and had thrown the other one away. Told me they were going to go to a junkyard for the past and never heard anything from them. I've called corporate multiple times to operators that don't speak English.
Here it is August I've NO AC since. I want a refund. Y'all are crooks.
I don't understand how you're still even operating robbing and lying to people with a smile on y'all's face. I am extremely dissatisfied with the service your company provided.
30k later no vehicle for over 2 years
Cant even make this short. Cant even remember its been 2,5 years.
Vehicle #1, vintage, promised he could fix. Dropped off 1 year and 1 month b4 a giant wedding event. Never fixed. Towed 3 times.
Sent to event with 3 gears and had to see other mech in other city to get back home. 6k plus in her. Vehicle #2. Dead in driveway.
5k. Mind you this includes all regular maintenance on vehicles. Tires, oil changes etc. #3.
Used. Cheap. Asked for preventative work as I travel a lot and they know. 8k plus into this vehicle because motor blew.
3 weeks ago additional $600 plus, replaced electric window parts, it fell 1000 miles into a 3000 mile road trip. Drove with window down or screaming at me for over 2k miles. Im not the mechanic. Ive trusted the mechanic.
Now they r texting me, like a husband or something, and asking where they can tow my vintage vehicle. I complained with corporate and nothing because they are a franchise. At this point, my 1987 VANAGON has paint damage from sun. Might need new tires again.
Have replaced battery, starter, and other parts from her sitting so long more then twice. Window seals rotting. Rust growing, she had zero rust b4. And they wont do what they said.
Which is be the mechanic and fix the vehicle. And be a man and do what you said you would do. Im sorely disappointed. I was dumb, kept trusting.
Kept returning. I know this is long. Its barely half of it t. There are also 2 other vehicles not listed.
They wont pull my numbers and show me and it would take days to gather the numbers from several diff places. This is not some corner mechanic. This is a Midas. Im shocked.
And out so much money and a ruined vintage vehicle. Anyone in town could tell you, they know the vehicle since its been sitting there since February, 2022 only to be towed back 3 times on his dime and 2 on me.
America customer satisfaction is dead. No one cares about doing the right thing any longer.
