Midas - Predatory practices, discrimination
After purchasing a midas oil change from Groupon, i called to schedule and appointment. After my arrival at 8:00 am on Brookhaven rd Memphis TN.
Upon my arrival 2 employees were wandering around and one was speaking to a lady through her car window on the lot. I asked the man standing in the lot where to pull my car in? I was told to just leave it where i was and they would take it from there. I went inside to filalize any paperwork that was needed and one of the men, the shortest and heaviest asked me details and i told him all that i wanted was an oil change.
He told me that they would get me in immediately. After waiting for about 10 mins, he asked me how i was paying, before they moved my car. When i explained that it was a prepaid groupon, he immediately changed up and told me that they. Can only do those oil changes by appt.
And they would not have an apoiontment until 3:pm. I expalimws that non of that was mentioned on the advertisement and after a few exchanges, he agrerd to get me in at 11:30am. By this time it is now approx 8:30am. I agreed and pulled into a parking space on the side of the midas garage, but on the street side of the lot.
I opened my hood to check other fluid levels etc and one of the empoyees walked over and approached me asking what was wrong, as if he wanted to help. I told him that i think i need a tune up, so he offered a diagnostic test for approx $90. I explained that my son is a mechanic and he was already aware of the problem. He then offered a discount on a tuneup if the readout agreed.
Again i said no. By this time another of the men approached and helped to try co convince me to do the work. Again, i told them,that i only need a tuneup. One of the men walked back to the office and returned within 5 mins and said, the boss said that we cant do the oil change.
I questioned the process and procedure as by this time its almost 9am.
I had wasted an hour of my day. After asking of this process, he became quickly agitated and requeated that i remove my vehicle off of his property.
I drove across the street to a starbucks and called immediatley to corporate who promised that i would receive acall from the sistrict manager which has not happened to date. I stilm have not had my oil changed.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
