We came in for a AC system replacement. We were charged a lot more than $1000.
We left with a new cheap $150 aftermarket AC pump, and engine problems. We expected new AC lines and condenser at least. We were told we did not need all that after they started work and generated the bill. Our bumper was half-detached.
Several parts were missing-- big and small. They simply discarded the perfectly working body parts and claimed ignorance. The car fell apart and caught fire on the way home. I am an experienced mechanic.
The car was perfect before. I had pictures. I opened up the car hood and found all sorts of things missing. The store manager paid cash for many missing parts.
They tried buying a Chinese part for another more expensive burned part. We made them purchase another part and they made up a story about how the first part was OEM. Midas customer service and the regional manager supported the shop, made absurd excuses, and half admitted fault by sending 10% of the total damages in the form of a check along with a liability agreement printed on the back of the check. Screw these crooked people.
They are all in it together. Some Midas shops are honest, but the store owners are forced to up-sell or go cheap on parts.
These guys were pushing it in every way and they got caught when our car self-destructed on the way home. Amex forced them to refund us.
