Cost of replacing a timing chain

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I received a quote for $1300 and called other place got one for $375. How can you charge so much more! After being there for over an hour and a half I also got my breaks and rotors changed for almost $400, had to bring the car back because of the noise coming from them, had to lubricate and replace them 6 weeks later! Had to pay to have the dust removed from the drums in the back. here it is two weeks later, making noise again. I feel you take advantage of a woman customer! I will never come back.

Service at Midas in Manchester NH

Worst place to take your car, these guys are a bunch of jokers, no customer service skills poor work and lousy attitude. They will rip yoU off as well. I had friends of mine who had bad experiences here as well. Better off taking t to the dealers or some else you can trust. The people working there are not at all professional except for the manager Carl. I had to wait for a long time to get any attention even after they saw me at the front desk. They tried to rip me off on parts as well. A grind of mine who took her car there had to take it to the dealer after they did a lousy job

Midas is the epitome of terrible auto service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I agree, they are terrible, their phone number is not in service and they close their stores 30 minutes before closing time (376 Highway #18 North, East Brunswick, NJ 08816). They take advantage of customers who are not as knowledgeable and make them pay a premium for cheap used tires as if they're brand new. Their main customer phone line works however you get the "I am so sorry but there's nothing we can do" phrase repeatedly. Beyond terrible, I really suggest you all to stick with real chains that have real services. So what if you save $20+, it's not worth all the headaches, frustration, and time wasted on not getting what you actually pay for plus a peace of mind.

Somehow, buying tires from a muffler shop doesn't seem like a good idea anyway.

Are you Fricking kidding me

I go into Midas off Stetson Hills and Powers in Colorado Springs and ask them to loosen up the oil pan drain nut (That they tighten my last oil change) and they wanted to charge the price of a oil change. I explained I was a long time customer, and I add the oil change the last time I was in there getting work (3K bill). So they rather lose a customer for life on something that would take 15 seconds by charging me a crazy amount? Are you kidding me. Right across the street in a strip Mall there is a Firestone which I left years ago for sorry service, they did it for free.

Midas Repair Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I took my truck into Midas in Gresham ,Or. I waited 5 hrs for the to not even replace my overflow reservoir back in. So I was back in for an hour the next day for them to do that. Now, 12 days later , their repair has rebroken; in that the wires to the fan clutch have shredded again, try somewhere else!

Midas - Engine Light Check Review from Chula Vista, California
i took my vehicle to this shop due to check engine light coming on. i had checked all my fluids prior to driving 10 minutes to the shop. when i arrived they told me they could run diagnostics to see what the issue is. upon completing the diagnosis they found rodents had chewed through my intake air temperature sensor, damaging the wires & possible the sensor. i was showed the damage and that they could repair my wires and sensor. three hours later i left the shop. i arrived home with my car overheating and decided to check the fluids again to see what was going on. upon looking at my vehicle i had no coolant fluid in my resivor or radiator. i then saw that there repair was splicing the wires, twisting them together and slapping some electrical tape on them. i called the shop immediately and told them about the over heating and botched job they did. i took my car back to the shop and was met outside by two service guys. according to their records i had plenty of coolant in my resivor and radiator. i asked why the repair to my sensor and wires was some botched job and was told that they said they could "fix it" not "replace it". i voiced my concerns and dissatisfaction with how they "fixed" my car. they guys said that they could replace the sensor and wires for additional labor & parts charge. also, i would need a transmission flush and more coolant in my car. i questioned how i could have coolant when they looked at the vehicle but zero coolant 15 minutes after i left the shop and my car overheating 10 minutes after i left. they had no explanation for me as i had no leaks or anything else wrong with they car. i also questioned how they could not inform me of how they planned to fix my vehicle and just slap a band-aid on my car. they said that i approved them to "fix" not "replace" anything. i feel that this shop took advantage of me and purposely created more issues to get me to throw more money into their pockets thinking i didn't know any better.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was told what was wrong with my brakes. Then the technician left for lunch and another came to the lobby and told me that the brakes were fine it was a rotor! A technician by the name of Daniel, do not know what he was talking about! Liar! I took the car out of there!!! Do not go there!Someone warning me before, but being Saturday that was the only shop open. I left, I felt something not right in there! Give us a favor, if you would like to waste your money, just give it to those in need.

The rotor is part of your brakes it's what the pads are applied too. The friction between them is what stops the rotation of the tires.

If the rotor is bad for what ever reason it causes negative effects on the pads as the pads seat to the rotor.you wouldnt change the rotor and put the same irregularly worn pads on the new rotor, let alone not do the other side along with it as to keep balanced braking.

I suggest you do some reading and learn about cars and the way they work. That way you can be confident that you won't be taken advantage of.

Beware the "Midas Touch" - failure to support warranty

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The problem on 05/16/2014 was the AC was no longer cold. The diagnosis was the condenser coil was bad. (inv#0144422) The service was performed 07/11/2014 (inv#0145156). The vehicle was returned repeatedly during the warranty period for the same unfixed problem. After expiring ideas for a solution at the store, I sought a second opinion on 04/30/2015. To affect a correct diagnosis, the third party disabled the vehicle. I had to pay for this service ($150). The diagnosis was the evaporator coil, not the condenser coil, was the cause. To move the vehicle from the third party to the warranty provider's shop would have required the vehicle be reassembled...at a cost (est. $250) and provide transportation...at a cost (est. $100). I asked the warranty provider to either have the vehicle moved to their shop for repair at their cost or offer reimbursement for repair at the dealership. The warranty provider refused, counter offering me to pay for the diagnosis, me to pay for the reassembly, me to pay for the transportation and me to pay for their repair. Their offer is far short of their warranty terms. The warranty provider's offer was for me to pay $500 AND his expense which totals in excess of my opportunity cost. The warranty terms are parts and labor (including diagnosis). The cost I incurred to correctly repair my vehicle at the third party is $1128.90 thus mitigating the expense to reassemble and transport the vehicle to the warranty provider's shop. I filed a BBB complaint (#9014****) on 05/04/2015 for "HVAC failure diagnosis wrong or incomplete". Mr. "GN" representing Midas agreed the cause was the evaporator coil and was prepared to forfeit (most of) his margin for the repair but closed the case before agreeing to reimburse the amount claiming the warranted item was only the condenser coil (i.e. not the diagnosis).

Midas under-estimate - over-estimate - missed what I brought it in for!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Told them my Ford's front end felt really bad. Like it's ready to fall apart! Asked for a full checkup on whole vehicle. $1,100 estimate from Midas included one outer tie rod end at $150.00 Neighbor said... "just one? I can do that in an hour, only cost about $40.00". Part cost $20 but when he got in there he found BIG trouble. Both the inner & outer tie rod end was shot plus the sway bar link was ready to let go. Neighbor decided to check the other side. BOTH SIDES! Both inner & outer tie rod end and the sway bar link were really bad! A frayed brake line was also ready to let go. I've surely lost confidence in Midas. They've lost my patronage, even for oil changes!

Paid for oil change that was not done.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Took my car in for a break job. While there I decided to get the oil changed. A couple weeks later I had the car at my local mechanic for some repairs and he said it needed an oil change. He showed me the oil filter on it, which is there brand and not the one Midas uses. He also showed me the sticker in the window, which was theirs, not Midas'. (It is my daughter's car so I was not driving it and did not see the sticker.) I contacted the store and the manager apologized and said he would send a refund. The next day he called me back and said the owner would not authorize the refund and that if the invoice said they did the work then it was done. Period. He was not willing to do anything to make it right. He lost a customer over $24.00.
